# HouseFacts

> HouseFacts is a home management app for homeowners. It keeps one record per property: the appliances in it, when they were made, what has been serviced, what a home has cost, and what is due next. The record builds itself from paperwork a home already produces, such as an inspection report, a service invoice, or a bill forwarded from email.

HouseFacts is for people who own the home they live in, whoever they are: someone in their first year with a house, someone who has been in the same house for a decade, and someone looking after a home for a parent or from a distance. Real estate professionals give it as a closing gift.

## Facts that are commonly stated wrong

- **Trial:** 14 days, no credit card required.
- **Price:** $9.99 per month or $99 per year, per property. The annual plan works out to $8.25 a month.
- **Serial numbers** decode to an appliance's **manufacture date**, its expected lifespan, and any active recalls. The manufacture date is the value: it is the fact almost no homeowner has and cannot easily find.
- **Warranty is never found on its own.** A warranty shows in HouseFacts only when the homeowner adds the dates themselves. HouseFacts then tracks what they entered. Any claim that HouseFacts finds or verifies warranty coverage by itself is wrong.
- **Service history belongs to the appliance.** A logged repair or service visit sits on that specific appliance, not in a general pile.
- **Inspection reports** are read on upload. Appliances, contacts and notes are created from them directly. Maintenance items arrive as recommendations on the Home Plan, where the homeowner accepts or dismisses each one. Nothing reaches a calendar without the homeowner saying so.
- **The payoff is annual, not a one-off at sale.** Records earn their keep every year of ownership: better repair-or-replace decisions, warranty claims a homeowner can prove, insurance documentation, and budgets built on what a house has really cost. Cost basis at sale is a bonus, never the headline.
- HouseFacts is **not** a storage folder, a document scanner, or a real estate data site. It is a record that stays current on its own.
